Childcare Support
The College may be able to offer financial help towards childcare costs at the College nursery (or, if this is full, an outside nursery) through the Student Support Fund if you are claiming certain state benefits or if you are on low income.
You must be studying a course for more than 8 hours per week and the child should be aged at least 1 year old when you start college.
Childcare contributions are paid direct to the childcare provider who must be approved by the Local Authorities.
Certain students may be eligible for Working Tax Credit childcare costs. If eligible, students must claim the Tax Credit Childcare rather than apply to the Student Support Fund.
If you are a parent on low income and would like to apply for help with childcare fees please contact The Student Financial Support Fund on 02920 250269. Application forms will be available in November for courses in January and February and in March for courses starting in September.
Please note that applications for childcare must be made early. All applications are means tested. You will need to provide evidence of your financial circumstances and attend an interview to discuss your childcare needs. Places are limited and are not guaranteed.
If you intend paying your own childcare fees you can contact the college nursery directly (Cardiff 02920 250291) to discuss arrangements.
