As well as offering a wealth of courses to school-leavers and adults, the college is offering more and more courses designed especially for business and has plenty of expertise in this area.

The Business and Professional Faculty and the Faculty of Engineering and Construction are the faculties most active in this area, while Training Solutions Wales, our business services division has built a strong reputation for delivering training and business services in Wales and beyond.

Our Sport and Community Studies Faculty is also about to introduce Masterclasses for the Sports industry. Many of our other faculties are about to introduce new courses designed especially for industry, to help businesses invest in their workforce so they are better placed to emerge from the recession in a stronger position than the competition.

Government initiatives for businesses

Young Recruits Programme

This is an allowance of £50 per week for 52 weeks to employers engaging young people onto an apprenticeship programme.  A special apprenticeship unit has been set up in DCELLS (the Welsh Assembly's Department of Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills) and forms are available from them by calling 01443 663933.

Employers must apply direct to the apprenticeship unit quoting the training provider as Cardiff College Training, Training Solutions Wales. There are only 1000 places available across Wales so apply now on a first come first served basis.

Six Month offer

This is a payment of £1000 to employers who employ an individual who has been unemployed for over 6 months with a further £1500 available to the learner for training.

Training can only be undertaken with a work based learning provider known to DCELLS, such as the college's Training Solutions Wales.
